ASTA’s 47th Vegetable & Flower Seed Conference was held January 22 – 25, 2008 at the Sheraton New Orleans in New Orleans, Louisiana. The conference met with great success, with a record number of attendees, exhibitors and sponsors. As the second of the three ASTA 125th Anniversary convention events, ASTA is proud to have seen such active participation and broad support from our friends in the vegetable & flower seed industry. We are looking forward to our next big convention event, the 125th Anniversary Annual Convention this June 21 – 25, 2008 in Orlando, Florida, and hope to see many of our Vegetable & Flower Seed Conference attendees there for the biggest event we’ve had this century!

As part of our convention events, ASTA is proud to have hosted a volunteer group project entitled “ASTA Gives Back” at the New Orleans Botanical Gardens on January 22, 2008. Sponsored by W. Atlee Burpee & Co. and supported by American Takii, Inc., Ball Horticultural Group, Gardener’s Supply / Dutch Gardens, Goldsmith Seeds, Inc., Johnny’s Selected Seeds, Kieft Seed Company, Renee’s Garden Seed, Seeds by Design and Seeds of Change, this great day of ASTA camaraderie and social responsibility offered a shining example of the values and spirit of ASTA. Click here for some great photos of the hard work these individuals did to help beautify and rebuild the New Orleans Botanical Gardens at the New Orleans City Park.

Special thanks to all of the volunteers who took part:
